In 1975, renowned psychoanalyst Dr. Bernie Brandchaft and his wife Elaine stole away to California’s Santa Ynez mountains to escape the summer heat. They fell in love with the cooler Mediterranean climate and pioneered off-the-grid living with solar power and an on-site water well.

The Early Days
The early 1980’s after Bernie, Elaine, family and friends planted our first Protea plants.
The Ranch Today
With over 15 acres planted and 60 species growing, we ship stunning bouquets nationwide.
In the mid 1990’s, Bernie and Elaine’s nephew took over the ranch. Since then our team has grown and so has our flourishing flower business. We safeguard our sustainable mission to this day as a pesticide free, off-the-grid farm and we’ve expanded to ship farm-to-table bouquets nationwide!
